Matrix board, pad-per-hole board, vector board or donut board is a PCB perforated by holes at 0.1 inch (2.54 mm) spacing, each hole is an isolated solder pad and is merely a way of holding components on the board. Connection between components is made by bending and soldering component leads together (this can make later repairs or modifications difficult) or by using insulated wire, e.g. solderable magnet wire. Matrix board is useful for prototyping circuits to make sure they work as intended. It is quite easy to adapt the circuit as you go, adding extra components if required. However without a schematic it can be hard to replicate.[1]
