Dieter Döpfer began developing audio hardware in 1979 with a voltage controlled phaser module for the modular Elektor Formant.[1] The company Doepfer Musikelektronik GmbH he founded, has its main office in Gräfelfing, Germany.
The Doepfer A-100 is the system that restarted the modular market in the early 1990's.[2]
